Efflux-Mediated bile Resistance in Gram-Positive Pathogens

چکیده

Gram-positive pathogens are causing many serious infections that affect humans and result in mild to severe diseases worldwide. In order survive initiate infection, enteric must resist the physiochemical defence factors human intestinal tract. One of these is bile, a potent antibacterial like compound intestine. Efflux pumps important mechanism by which bacteria agents such as bile. antimicrobial substances outside bacterial cell considered key factor for colonization virulence pathogens. This paper will review research conducted on efflux–mediated bile resistance Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, Enterococcus faecalis Clostridium perfringens. These colonize & animal gastrointestinal tract they have multiple innate defences gut activity However, not fully understood. The evidence from this suggests ability active transport Further needed know how sense regulates its factor. general, therefore, it seems understanding specific including gram-positive may involve development novel strategies control treatment infections.

Antibiotic Resistance, Part 1: Gram-positive Pathogens

The Jo 70 ABSTRACT Antibiotics have been instrumental in reducing mortality and morbidity associated with bacterial infections. However, antibiotic resistance has been increasing at an alarming rate due to overuse and inappropriate utilization. The emergence of resistance in Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus and enterococci is of concern. The increasing incidence of resistance in ...

Efflux-mediated resistance to fluoroquinolones in gram-positive bacteria and the mycobacteria.

The fluoroquinolone (FQ) group of antimicrobial agents is increasingly popular in the treatment of a variety of gramnegative infections, against which they are often highly effective. FQs are traditionally less active against gram-positive pathogens, although they are clinically useful against Mycoplasma pneumonia and have been employed in the treatment of drug-resistant mycobacterial infection...

Efflux-mediated resistance to fluoroquinolones in gram-negative bacteria.

The introduction of the fluoroquinolones (FQs) in the 1980s provided clinicians with a class of broad-spectrum agents applicable to a range of gram-negative infections including urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, respiratory tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases, bone and joint infections, and infections of the skin and soft tissue (reviewed in references 10 and 43...

Pili in Gram - positive pathogens

| Most bacterial pathogens have long filamentous structures known as pili or fimbriae extending from their surface. These structures are often involved in the initial adhesion of the bacteria to host tissues during colonization. In Gram-negative bacteria, pili are typically formed by non-covalent interactions between pilin subunits. By contrast, the recently discovered pili in Gram-positive pat...

Efflux-mediated antimicrobial resistance.

Antibiotic resistance continues to plague antimicrobial chemotherapy of infectious disease. And while true biocide resistance is as yet unrealized, in vitro and in vivo episodes of reduced biocide susceptibility are common and the history of antibiotic resistance should not be ignored in the development and use of biocidal agents. Efflux mechanisms of resistance, both drug specific and multidru...
